Loridiel, Lilim of the Game

Loridiel is a legal starting character.

To all external appearances, Loridiel is a free Lilim that doesn't do much traffic with Hell these days. She spends almost all her time on Earth, generally associating with rather dodgy types who might be in need of help, and in a unique position to provide certain items, services, and knowledge not easily obtained in Hell due to the fact the certain demons who have power would rather that these things remain in their possession alone. Since she's free, and not actively aiding Heaven or hurting Hell, she can't exactly be deemed a renegade, but she's what most would consider a grey. Open-minded Angels with some experience under their belt may make cautious attempts to try and bring her over to their side, while remaining wary of her possible motives at any time. Even more militant Angels would have a hard time pinning her down as positively evil, and killing her would probably result in her getting pissed off at Heaven in general, so the intelligent Malakite doesn't automatically reach for his knife/gun/bag of M&Ms (in the case of Eli's) on contact with her. In any case, she could be a valuable resource, having links into the parts of the infernal lowerarchy that Angels might like to be able to talk to, track, or otherwise interact with.

Overheard at the Eighth Virtue:

"So I figure something's up, right, and I try resonating this guy, and it was…just weird, never seen anything like it. It's not that I couldn't get a reading, it's that there was nothing to read."

"Huh? Whaddya mean by that, he shielded or something?"

"No, the Symphony—it just wasn't there. Or, it was but I couldn't make it out."

"You okay? Been racking up dissonance or something?"

Bal-elohim: The Observers

On those sad and terrible occasions when an Elohite loses sight of the true reasons for being, the former angel usually forgets his objectivity, giving in to a flurry of passions and tumbling screaming to Hell as a Habbalite, not even realizing what has truly happened. But, on a few, rare occasions, these precariously-balanced angels topple the other way. Instead of giving in to passions, they instead distance themselves too much from emotions in the quest for objectivity.

As the angels toiled, and the universe took form, God looked on and saw that it was good. And God looked forward and saw that all would move by his perfect plan, and this troubled him. That his own perfection should trouble him troubled him even more, and thus he went to Yves, who had a name for all things, and asked him the name of this trouble. And Yves spoke onto him, and named this trouble Boredom, the trouble that arose from the knowledge of what would come. And God thought, and he formed a plan.

What are role-playing games?

Role-playing games are simply games where each player takes on the persona of some fictional individual in some situation, and then attempts to act out what this person would do. Everyone's played role-playing games before, even if they don't know it. House, Doctor, and Cowboys N' Indians are some classics enjoyed by children. While children find these games great, adults get tired of them very quickly because there's only as many characters as there are players, which limits interactions, and disputes always arise along the lines of who yelled "Bang!" first.

This is a really old piece of in-game fiction I wrote. In retrospect, it's pretty bad—my adjectives were out of control, and half the thing consists of "As you (don't) know, Bob…", but here it is for completeness.
